A massive clean-up campaign for the Mediterranean – coming to you in 2014.

Collecting as much floating and deposited garbage as possible, raising awareness and demonstrating that problems of such magnitude can only be solved by working together.

Let’s Do It Mediterranean! (LDIM!) is an environmental campaign with the aim to stop waste inflow to the Mediterranean Sea, so that in five years’ time, it will be a clean and biologically diverse environment for which every citizen takes full responsibility. We aim to do this with a massive clean-up campaign collecting as much floating and deposited garbage as possible, raising awareness and demonstrating that problems of such magnitude can only be solved by working together. The campaign will not target only environmentalists, but also the broader population, which, from our experience, can be mobilised to great extents. Significant participation will drive governments to implement stricter legislation mandating installation of sewage systems, storm drain filters, to relocate open dumpsites from coastlines and to introduce modern waste management techniques. The main source of volunteers lies in the present Let’s Do It teams around the Mediterranean. The LDIM movement, while not centralised, does have a core team that plays a supporting and coordinating role.
